Paul L. Holly
U.S.Army Air Forces
1943-1945
WWII
Paul L. Holly, affectionately known as "Bubby," was born on October 6, 1924, to Paul L. Holly Sr. and Lillian Holly. He attended PS 19 and Port Richmond High School, where in 1940, he played baseball with the Blue Devils and met Charlie Nola, who would later become his brother-in-law. As WWII began, both Paul and Charlie enlisted in the military, and the team disbanded.
In 1941, Paul married Louise Howard, whom he lovingly called "Lu." Together, they raised four children—Robert, Paul, Holly, and Patricia—on Dongan Street, where they became known for hosting lively parties. The family moved to Westerleigh in 1972.
Paul proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, earning an Air Medal for his work photographing enemy airdromes during operational flight missions in the Pacific. He took great pride in his military service and loved sharing stories from his time in the service, often showing his extensive collection of photos.
Above all, Bubby cherished time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family, especially enjoying relaxing in his pool. A true character, he was the life of every gathering, bringing warmth and joy to those around him.
Paul L. Holly passed away in July 2001.
