Bob Ollis was born in Brooklyn, New York. He was raised in Brooklyn and Queens. He joined
the Army during the Vietnam War.
He earned two Bronze Stars for valor, two Air Assault Medals and a Purple Heart.
After his stint in the Army, he attended the Delehanty Institute where he studied automotive mechanics. He was employed as a truck mechanic for 30 years with the Daily News.
He married his wife, Linda, in 1971 and they moved to Staten Island. Here they raised a family: Kimberly, Kelly, and Michael. Bob became very interested in his children’s sports. He spent many years coaching youth soccer. He coached all three of his children at varying ages. He was the President of the OLQP (Our Lady Queen of Peace) Soccer Club for seven years, Vice President of the Staten Island Soccer League for two years, and the Assistant Coach for the Women’s Soccer Team at Wagner College for one year.
Bob now devotes his spare time to several veterans organizations and to the Foundation he and Linda started to honor their son’s legacy and to assist veterans and active military personnel.
