PORT RICHMOND COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT

We regret to inform the Port Richmond Community

on the Passing of Mr. Gary lane Sr.

Lifelong Port Richmond Resident where his family settled well over 100 years ago. A dedicated family man and dedicated to his career in the Labor Community and participated in many actions in the community he admired so much.

Mr. Lane welcomed all into his home when it came questions related to labor issues, political afdvice and even civic engagement. He offered advice and guidance to the Vice president of Port Richmond North Shore Alliance; Mario Buonviaggio (VP) on certain issues. He held court on his front porch with many people and gave sound advice. Never shy in telling anyone if they were doing something incorrect. many are fortunate to have Mr. Lane in their corner for counsel. Mr. Buonviaggio stated; "This is yet another gut punch to the community". He further states; "We will never have another Mr. Gary Lane, I will forever remember his words of wisdom, advice and direction." This really is a gut punch for the community. Mr. Lane always had a smile on his face. This is a HUGE LOSS for Port Richmond and the North Shore.

His presence at our monthly meetings and seeing him running around the neighborhood will surely be missed.

PROJECT HOSPITALITY
Destroying the North Shore Communities

PORT RICHMOND COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT:

Project Hospitality Building Destroying our community.

Article in papers shows a leaning story. Of course, Jaclyn Stoll from Project Hospital providing a fictional story and LYING to all of you! A shame an organization which falls under the umbrella of RELIGION and GOD lies as much as they do! Shame on Jaclyn Stoll for reporting LIES to the paper. As mentioned through meeting with Community Board #1 and local meetings this organization stressed that each individual must go through a VIGOROUS training to get an apartment. So YOU TOO can get an apartment with an F+ grade!

Quote " We had no idea of the issues the community mentioned"

LIE: we sent emails and approached her directly. It is unbelievable and an outright LIE that they did not know when its in front of their building every single day and evening

  • She cannot see operating an inappropriate food pantry occupying an entire city sidewalk..also illegal and dangerous.

  • Illegal vendor also occupying an entire sidewalk on port Richmond Avenue afternoon into evening hours in front of building.

  • Residents of the building smoking marijuana, consuming alcohol, urinating on the very building they live in.

  • 250 calls coming to the building. You do not see the emergency vehicles?

  • Residents from this building roaming aimlessly along the Avenue.

  • Residents from this building aggressively panhandling in front of stores and businesses

  • Stealing from same stores and businesses.

  • Smoking drugs INSIDE and OUTSIDE of the building.

IN ST. GEORGE IN WHICH RESIDENTS THERE HAVE VIDEO/PHOTO OF WHAT'S TRANSPIRING AT THE OTHER DROP IN CENTER:

  • Public urnitaing/defication surrounding their condo building

  • fighting amongs one another.

  • Drug use.

  • Prostitution in the alley

  • Damaging property.

  • Aggressive pan-handling.

  • stealing from small business.

CAUGHT...!

This area of Port Richmond has been the center of attention for the last year. As this Civic group Pushed hard for City Agencies and NYEDC to take responsibility and clean up the North Shore Railway. The city, especially our hard-working NYC Department of Sanitation did a FANTASTIC JOB with the cleanup. Because of this attention some in the community are getting involved and keeping eyes wide open. Because of community effort this resulted in catching an illegal dumper.

Not only do we catch individuals illegally dumping in the exact area where it has been cleaned, but these Piece of TRASH lives 1000 ft. from the site.

These Animals dumped at the location on TWO OCCASSIONS

PHOTO AND VIDEO TO PROVE.

Animals like this do not deserve the right to privacy. The vehicle and the individuals live at 22 Bayonne Ct. SINY 10302. INSIDE NICHOLAS ESTATES.

Vehicle is a Black Nissan Altima License Plate# KZX-4410 NY.

THE NORTHSHORE RAILWAY

WE ARE IN DISCUSSION ABOUT THIS WITH THE BOROUGH PRESIDENT'S OFFICE

Drone footage reveals decades of neglect.

We face overgrowth, dumping, standing water, etc.

NOW The City is looking to have NYEDC take the lead

on yet another $450 Million Dollar project at the St. George Ferry

when NYEDC cannot even be responsible enough

to tend to routine housekeeping on property they currently own,

 THE NORTH SHORE RAILWAY.

This video is from a backyard inside Nicholas estates adjoining the North Shore Railway; taken on Thanksgiving Eve 2023.

All the untrimmed trees are encroaching onto the community's private property and limiting owners' enjoyment of their yards.

We have been working this issue since February.

We did a walk through with NYEDC on November 8th, 2023.

We stated our frustration, at a conversation started in February 2023 and still NOTHING has been done.

We made it very clear that NYEDC does not want to be on the wrong side of this if something happens.

Well, guess what,

  • On Thanksgiving Eve 2023 A tree [on NYEDC property] fell onto private property destroying the homeowners outdoor furniture and some of the decks to their home. (video/photo footage attached).

  • Since another tree fell during the Christmas holidays falling onto the sidewalk on Nicholas Avenue.

  • Since a tree fell on a grassy knoll inside Nicholas Estates, (since removed by the management Company of Nicholas Estates).

  • NYC Health Department is issuing summonses to homeowners adjacent to this railway for rodent activity such as Moles in the property.

  • The railway has become a breeding ground for rodent activity (rat sightings) and mice droppings adjacent to the railway and on private property.

Another storm with rain and high winds is expected Tues-Wed January 8-9, 2024.

Our  Borough President Vito Fosssella says "The Water Front" comes first.

CONSTITUENTS AND SAFETY COME FIRST- NOT A SPECIAL INTEREST!

We presented a comprehensive plan to get this area clean:

  • Four Mid-sized local companies participate in this cleanup

  • All with appropriate insurances to cover the cleanup

  • Approximate cost to remediate this health concern. ($100-$120,000)

  • Time frame in which this will be completed. (9 Days)

We were turned down flat.
